Subaruís ready to get back into the three-row crossover game, and it brought along a concept to prove it. The Ascent Concept is about the size of the Ford Explorer, and best of all, itís just about production-ready. Subaru says it will be powered by a new turbocharged boxer four-cylinder.

Subaru unveiled a new three-row concept called the Ascent in New York, a move that signals that Subaru will once again offer a bigger crossover vehicle; currently, their largest car is the Outback.

2017 is a year of SUV's and every auto brand has an SUV to offer. From the 2017 Toyota Highlander Hybrid, Hyundai Santa Fe, 2017 Honda Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder, 2017 Dodge Durango and the list goes on. With the planned introduction of the 2018 Subaru Ascent, it could regain its market share of big car sales against SUV's with a similar engine like Mazda's CX-9 and Nissan Rogue according to Cars Guide.

Not much new information here but good to see more articles about the Ascent.

Subaru is readying a new seven-seat crossover Ė dubbed the Ascent Ė which could serve as a replacement for its discontinued Tribeca large SUV, but the new model is off the table for the Australian market.

Some good quotes in the article from the likes of Car & Driver and Motortrend on the Ascent.

Subaru is taking another crack at the seven-seat crossover market with the Viziv-7 concept. Designed specifically for the United States, the concept is more about size than styling. It is set to be built at Subaruís factory in Lafayette, Ind., and go on sale in mid-2018. Hereís what people are saying about the concept.

However, Subaru might get inspired and turn the Viziv-7ís production version into a hybrid. The latter would solve the emissions problem without too much hassle, while fuel economy should also attain a reasonable level. Subaru only had a hybrid car in its lineup until now, and that model was a crossover.

Good little article about Subaru's Tribeca failure and how they had to convince Fuji Heavy Industries to let them make a second attempt at making an SUV.

Subaru of America is trying to make up for a previous attempt at a premium SUV, the B9 Tribeca, which was a fairly spectacular failure from the time it was launched in 2005 and ultimately pulled from the market in 2014. The cost of failure was so much that Subaruís U.S. division had a difficult time convincing parent company Fuji Heavy Industries to give them another chance despite the sales surge in crossovers and SUVs, and the expectation that the right product could add perhaps 75,000 sales a year to Subaruís totals within a couple of years.

Here's to hoping that the Ascent is a success!

Good article about the Ascent from the guys at Outside Online:

Revealed Thursday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, this Viziv-7 is a lightly disguised version of Subaruís forthcoming seven-seat family crossover. Expected to be called the 2018 Subaru Ascent, that production model will go on sale in roughly a year.

General Subaru Ascent Discussion / LA Auto Show VIZIV-7 Pictures

I went to the LA Auto Show yesterday to check out the VIZIV-7 concept (aka the 2018 Subaru Ascent).

I was a bit disappointed that you couldn't look inside or even get that close to it, but I snapped a few pictures and I do have to say that it looks AMAZING.  I hope that the actual production vehicle is really close in design to the concept I saw.

It looks like Subaru hit a home run with their new 3-Row crossover Concept vehicle. It was unveiled at the LA Auto Show yesterday and early indications are positive for the new 7-passenger SUV. What does the new vehicle tell us about the production model?
Of course this is just a concept and not the production model that will arrive in 2018 for U.S. consumers, but itís not anything like the VIZIV Concept that was a 2-Door vehicle. The VIZIV-7 SUV Concept revealed in LA is a lot closer to what Subaru could be producing at the plant in Lafayette, Indiana soon.
Subaruís answer to the U.S. market
Takeshi Tachimori, Corporate Executive Vice President, Fuji Heavy Industries said yesterday, ďOur latest VIZIV concept is our thinking about how to answer the request from our customers, exclusively for the US market.Ē
The VIZIV-7 SUV Concept is the largest concept model Subaru has ever produced. Itís exactly what customers in the U.S. have been telling Subaru they wanted. After the Tribeca was a failure for the brand, Subaru realized they needed something bigger for American families. The new 7-passenger VIZIV-7 SUV Concept is Subaruís answer. At least it gives consumers an idea what to expect when it arrives.

Hi!  I'm the founder and admin around here.

I'm a long time Subaru enthusiast currently with a black 2015 WRX.  I've administrated a couple other forums in the past and figured I would build one for the new Subaru Ascent as I'm pretty excited to see the car when it finally hits the streets.

Thanks for joining!
